Commemoration of the 90th Anniversary of the Loss of HMS Vanguard

There is a ceremony planned for the 9th of July, 2007, to commemorate the tragic loss of the battleship 90 years ago. A number of relatives of the crew, along with many interested people are planning on attending, with the full support of the Kirkwall Royal British Legion. As of May, the details are:

• the service will be conducted in Lyness on 9 July
• Talisman may assist with a launch to get people to Lyness
• the RBL will arrange remembrance wreaths
• there may be a ceremony at the Kirkwall Cathedral on Sunday 8 July
